Summer Registration

The fee for the Summer MVP League is $175 ($235 if a new uniform is needed). League play begins the weekend of June 11 and ends July 24. Practices will be held once per week in one of the Piedmont school gyms. Your coach will be contacting you directly with more information and specific practice times.

PBBF Announces its new Summer MVP Basketball Academy! Register now! Same link as above.

PIEDMONT SUMMER MVP BASKETBALL ACADEMY

This summer, the Piedmont Basketball Foundation (PBBF) is initiating its first Summer MVP Basketball Academy. This program will enable kids in Piedmont who are serious and enthusiastic about basketball to continue to work on and improve their basketball skills during the summer, while also have an enjoyable time playing basketball with their friends. The Academy will be run by professional basketball trainers and Piedmont MVP basketball coaches.

The Basketball Academy will run for 8 weeks from the week of June 20th through the week of August 8th. Players will be divided into 4 groups: Middle School Boys (those who have just completed 6, 7 or 8th grades); Elementary School Boys (those who have just completed 3, 4 or 5th grades); Middle School Girls; Elementary School Girls. Each group will have one 90 minute session per week. All sessions will be on weekday evenings (sessions will begin after 5 pm and before 8 pm) and will be held in one of the gyms at Piedmont Middle School. Every other session (that is, each group will have a session every other week that) will be conducted by a professional trainer, Kenny Evans and Bryan Gardere (who are coaches of the PHS girls varsity)—to help players work on their fundamental skills (dribbling, shooting, footwork, etc.). These sessions will involve 60 minutes of training/skill development and 30 minute for scrimmaging at the end. The alternating weeks, Piedmont MVP coaches will spend about 45 minutes having the players do drills to practice their skills, and learn some offensive and defensive plays and strategies. The last 45 minutes will give players ample time to scrimmage.

It will be possible only to sign up for the entire 8 week package, even though we realize that many families will be on vacation for part of the 8 weeks. The cost for the entire 8 weeks is $120. If we are unable to get 10 players signed up in a given age and gender group, we will have to cancel the Academy for that age/gender group, and will of course refund the $120. If this happens, where appropriate, we may sometimes be able to give parents/players the option, on a case by case basis, of participating in one of the other groups where the 10 player minimum has been achieved.

Parents with questions, or wishing to help out should contact John Bilorusky, PBBF Vice President and Coordinator of Summer Basketball Academy: johnb@wisr.edu 510-601-8164.
