Piedmont Middle School Teamspms

7th and 8th Grades: Piedmont Middle School Teams for 7th and 8th grade Girls and Boys (up to two teams for each grade and gender) travel to play other middle school teams in the East Bay including Longfellow, Willard and King (Berkeley), Orinda, Stanley (Lafayette), Joaquin Moraga, Walnut Creek, Foothill (Walnut Creek) and Martinez.

Tryouts are held for these teams, whose seasons run from November-January (girls) and December-February (boys).  These teams are organized by the Piedmont Recreation Department.  For more information, contact Lenny Parker at 420-3074 or lparker@ci.piedmont.ca.us.

  • There are 2 boys teams (Highlanders & Scots) in each of the 7th and 8th grades at Piedmont Middle School again this year.  The game seasons for all four teams tip off in January and culminate with a tournament March 16-20th.
  • The Piedmont Middle School Girls Teams tipped-off their seasons at Foothill in Walnut Creek on Wednesday, November 12th.   See teams full schedules by clicking links below.

6th Grade: There are no School Teams for 6th Graders at PMS.  Piedmont Basketball Foundation provides 6th Grade competitive teams for boys and girls in the Winter Season for players who wish to play competitive rather than or in addition to recreational basketball.  The PBBF 6th Grade Teams play the 6th grade teams of other middle schools in the East Bay Middle School 6th Grade Tournaments in January (girls) and February (boys) in addition to competing in the Oakland Citywide League run by the Oakland Parks & Recreation Department from January into March.  Contact the PBBF 6th Grade Coach here or on the Coaches page for information about the 2008-09 6th Grade Teams.  Tryouts for these teams will be held this Thursday, Oct 30 from 7-9pm and Sunday, Nov 2 from 4-6pm in Morrison Gym (note: changed from Patio Gym as of 10/30).

Piedmont High School

Piedmont High competes in the Bay Shore Athletic League which includes St. Mary’s (Berkeley), St. Joseph’s (Alameda), Salesian (Richmond), St. Patrick (Vallejo) Moreau Catholic (Hayward), Kennedy (Richmond), Encinal (Alameda) and John Swett (Crockett).  The high school season runs from late November through February.

PHS MEN’S: Varsity, JV, Freshman

PHS Men’s Basketball teams tipped-off the 2008-09 season at home  Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008.  Their season is now complete.

PHS Women:  Varsity,  Jr. Varsity

The Piedmont High School women’s teams tipped-off another fun and highly successful season on November 25th, 2008.   The team made it all the way to the 2nd round of the CIF North Coast Section playoffs before a loss at McKinleyville ended their season.

In addition to their team success, the following players were honored individually:

  • Sarah Tamulski, Bay Shore Athletic League Player of the Year (21 ppg, 18rpg.  Also only the 4th player in Piedmont High history to score more than 1,000 points in a career)
  • Andrea Chenier, Bay Shore Athletic League 1st Team
  • Clara Tate, Bay Shore Athletic League Honorable Mention
